2017 SW Regional Skills Canada Competition

EVENT SCHEDULE

(Please note that this is a general schedule of events; timelines for each contest may vary slightly; please refer to the specific schedules located in each competition area or speak to a competition representative for clarification)

7:30 a.m. Check-in – Please report to CE 1305 to sign in and collect your registration package.   Please proceed to the Competitors Lounge (The Cave) and help yourself to snacks, juice and coffee; find your competition sign - a representative from your contest will escort you to the competition area.

7:40 – 9:00  Orientation - Meet the organizers, judges and fellow competitors, take a brief tour of the area, review safety procedures and ask any questions that you may have.

8:00 – 9:00  Contests get underway:

  Automotive - TT 1975            Graphic Design—TE 3217

  Baking – AN 1639                 Hairstyling—Sunflower Room

  Cabinet Making—TR 1840      Photography—TE 3225      

  Carpentry – TR 1835              Video Production—IB Commons

  Culinary—AN 1635                 Welding— TR 1902  

  Fashion—AN 1500 Wing                              

9:00 – 10:00 Job Skills Demo – provided by Miranda Van Loon – Grade 10 student Matthew Halton - AN1612

10:00 – 11:00 Hairstyling Demo – Open to all – The Cave

11:30 – 12:30 Lunch is provide for all participants (lunch times are staggered, consult your competition coordinator for your lunch time)

11:30– 1:00 Culinary Luncheon – guest judges meet at CE 1305 then move outside AN 1635 to enjoy the delicious meals prepared by our Culinary Arts and Baking competitors

12:00 – 12:30 Contests resume

2:30  Time is up!  After your work area has been cleaned up, you can enjoy some refreshments and relax in the Competitor’s Lounge (The Cave).  Judges will be busy evaluating projects and determining the award winners.

3:30Awards Ceremony begins in the Gymnasium, medals and prizes awarded to the top 3 competitors in each contest.  This is open to the public so please feel free to invite guests.
