Feller Appointed Director of Learning
Livingstone Range School Division is pleased to announce that Richard Feller, who has been in a temporary role as Director of Learning – Support Services, will assume the role on a permanent basis, beginning August 13, 2018. The portfolio for this position encompasses Inclusive Education; First Nations, Metis and Inuit programs; overseeing the behavior support team and the Family School Liaison supports; the Nutrition Project, comprehensive school health and other duties.
“I’m very fortunate to be part a collaborative team who is committed to the success of all of our students,” says Feller. “The communities and children we serve are at the core of what we do and I look forward to working within this learning alliance.”
Feller began his career with LRSD at Livingstone School in 1999, and later became assistant principal and then principal at G.R. Davis and W.A. Day schools. Feller brings a broad spectrum of skills and experience to his role, drawing from previous experience in inclusive education, alternative programming for junior high students, integration of technology into classroom teaching and learning, and Aboriginal education.
Feller has partnered with other educators looking at teaching strategies within multi-age and interdisciplinary thematic approaches and how those strategies impact student achievement on provincial exams. He also has an extensive background in technology and was instrumental in leading Granum School to become one of only 36 schools in Canada designated as members of the Network of Innovative Schools.
LRSD Superintendent Darryl Seguin is happy to have Feller to continue in his role on a more permanent basis.
“We are so pleased to have Mr. Feller join our Division office team in this capacity. Richard has a great deal of knowledge, skill and experience in this particular portfolio that will serve our jurisdiction well as we move forward accomplishing our goals in our three priority areas,” says Seguin. “He is student centered and solution focused and will provide strategic support in helping schools meet student needs.”
Prior to assuming duties with LRSD central office, Feller was principal at W.A. Day School in Fort Macleod.
