Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties Scholarship

Audience: Residents of a municipality which is a member in good standing of the AAMDC; Residents of cities, towns or villages are not eligible.
Sponsored by: Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties
Eligibility: be registered in first four years of study at a recognized post‐secondary institution. Preference will be given to candidates attending a recognized postsecondary institution in Alberta, except in instances where the chosen program of study is not available in Alberta; and be pursuing a course of studies of relevance to local government and/or rural communities.
Value: 1 scholarship of $1,000 is presented to one successful applicant from each of the five AAMDC districts.

Alberta Blue Cross Scholarship

Audience:  63 scholarships awarded each year to young Albertans entering full‐time post‐secondary study in Alberta

Eligibility: Awarded to Alberta students on the basis of academic achievement and financial need. Most awards are administered directly through the accredited postsecondary institutions listed at the website.
Value: These scholarships range from $375 to $1,250

Alberta Blue Cross Scholarships for Aboriginal Students

Audience:  Must be Registered Indian, Inuit or Metis and must have been residents of Alberta during their previous year of study.

Eligibility: Applicants must have just completed their final year of high school and be entering a first year of post‐secondary studies. Applicants will be evaluated based on the results as shown on their Alberta Education High School transcript. The top five courses with a minimum five credit value will be averaged to determine a percentage score. Financial need and community involvement will also be considered.
Value: 3 scholarships of between $375 ‐ $1,250 depending on institution

Eligibility: entering a first term of a University, School of Technology and Art, Nursing Program or any recognized College within Alberta‐N.W.T. These awards are intended to assist children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews of ex‐service personnel, as well as a children and grandchildren of current serving personnel, R.C.M.P., Fire fighters, Volunteer Fire Fighters and Reserve Personnel in advancing their education.
